HALLO AUS WIEN! :)

We flew to the Vienna Airport with Pegasus PC1675 flight on 20.04.2023 at 14:35 directly with my husband. Throughout our stay, the weather was very nice – we enjoyed the blue sky with the shining sun.

We took the S7 line from the airport to the Landstrasse (Bhf. Wien Mitte) station and U4 line from here to the Stadtpark station where our hotel is located.

We reached to our hotel, the Ritz-Carlton Vienna, in 3 min (280 m) by walking. The location, comfort, and the staff were really nice.

We checked-in and started to explore the area by walking.

For dinner, we tried the Wiener Schnitzel with potato salad @Bettelstudent for the first time but actually we did not like the taste as much as we have expected. Still happy that we tried 🙂 We walked through the neighborhood and had some beer and fries @Crossfield’s Australian Pub.

Next day started with a delicious breakfast @dstrikt which was located inside our hotel. We arranged our stay with breakfast included since we preferred a quick but sufficient breakfast for the rest of the days consisting of lots of walking 🙂

After breakfast, we headed to the Schloss Belvedere by walking and after getting lost a little bit by visiting the University of Music and Performing Arts of Vienna. We finally reached this beautiful view:

The unique, overall complex, with its two palaces, the Upper and Lower Belvedere, and their extensive gardens, are one of the most stunning Baroque architectural ensembles in the world. In the 18th century, the Austrian general Prince Eugene of Savoy commissioned the renowned Baroque architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt to build a summer residence.

After the death of Prince Eugene, Empress Maria Theresa acquired the entire complex and transformed the Upper Belvedere into an exhibition venue for the imperial collections – making it one of the first public museums in the world. The Marble Hall was the venue for important historical events and now offers an unparalleled view of Vienna. The Lower Belvedere, formerly the residence of Prince Eugene, is home to illustrious exhibitions. The modern pavilion of the Belvedere 21, by architect Karl Schwanzer, sets the stage for contemporary art.

We entered to the line for tickets but purchased our online tickets while waiting in the queue in such a quick way.

The palace hosts many valuable and precious art works. Specifically, The Kiss, painted by Gustav Klimt, is owned by the Osterreichische Galerie Belvedere, which is housed in the Belvedere Palace in Vienna, Austria. It is one of the most iconic paintings from the Art Nouveau period. Klimt painted this rich oil painting with added platinum, silver, and gold leaf in 1907, at the height of his “Golden Period”. The Kiss depicts a couple wrapped in a loving embrace in typical Art Nouveau style. Not only is this painting the most loved and celebrated of Klimt’s paintings, but it is also one of the most controversial.
